Material Rose Tutorial

I love these and recently learned how to make them from a lady in my neighborhood. So here is how! Oh, if you leave a comment I will put your name in a drawing for these lovely roses, become a follower and I you will get your name put in twice!!

material (I used about 48-54 inches in length and two inches wide, but you can use any length to make them as big or as small as you would like)
glue gun
buttons or brads
something to cut the material with; scissors or a material cutting tool

Next, cut your strips and remember the size is up to you. I didn't have 54 inches in one length, so I cut three strips for one flower.

Then fold in half and make a knot at the end of one of the strips

Next, you want to start wrapping and twisting the material around the knot. Twist often to give your rose a more unique look. You will get to the point where you will need to use a glue gun to hold the material in place.

Hubby thought it would be funny to take a picture of me in concentration mode.

When you are finished making it as big s you like, this is what it should look like. You can wrap it tight or make it loose.

Then you will want to cut some circles from felt and glue them to the back of your roses. This just makes the roses look finished and makes it easier to adhere them to your projects. It is optional.

Add some buttons or brads and viola! Look at these lovely ladies!

Scrap-ivor Week 8 @ Let's Capture Our Memories

Ok, let's face it....all good things must come to an end. Yes, I was voted off! I believe, it was because I was a threat! I was the chief over our tribe "The Paperpushers". Then we merged and called over selves "Glua da Papers". Then it all came tumbling down! Dorrie Saya the head chief over the "Glua Glua's" was voted off as well. I guess the point of this game is to get rid of the threats. They all played it well and it will be interesting to see who goes next and how the rest of the game will be played out.

Scrap-ivor Week 7

We are no longer on teams anymore, we have merged! This week, we are to create a layout entitled "When I was a little girl." and it has to have pink on it. I have an idea brewing and now, it is time to get it down on paper! Off I go!

Scrap-ivor Week 6 Layout!

So, here is my layout for week 6. Some of us had to do a high school graduation picture and the others had to use phone book paper, some masking tape, something homeade and material on their page. I made the blue rose from material, but also made some leaves out of material. I then, made those little flowers out of masking tape and as you can see, there is phone book paper! I love how this turned out and best of all I am still in the game!

Scrap-ivor Week 6 @ Let's Capture Our Memories

So, the challenge this week is a little different. We have to divide our team into two. One team has to do a scraplift of one of Natalie Roy's layouts (fabulous by the way) and the other has to scrap a high school graduation picture using the words "Blast from the Past on the layout. Ummm....I will be doing the lift because well, tracking down a graduation picture of me will be a little hard. So, go check out the details. We are having a lot of fun over there.
